The California Emerging Technology Fund released the first Request for Proposals (RFP) in 2007 for programs and projects that help lay the foundation for transforming communities and institutions. CETF periodically also invites proposals that will help implement the Strategic Action Plan.

Purpose

The mission of the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) is to provide leadership statewide to minimize the Digital Divide by accelerating the deployment and adoption of broadband and other advanced communications services in underserved communities and populations. CETF will advance actions that will make California a global leader in the availability and use of broadband technology. CETF will accomplish this mission by making investments in programs and projects to improve access, applications, affordability, accessibility and assistance-the "5As" requisite to achieve adoption and close the Digital Divide -and the essential components of Digital Inclusion. In addition, CETF has a primary focus on three priority consumer communities: Rural and Remote Areas; Urban Disadvantaged Neighborhoods, and People with Disabilities.

The California Emerging Technology Fund has reviewed research studies and conducted widespread "fact finding" with stakeholders to develop a Strategic Action Plan that delineates the approach to carrying out the mission and sets forth "best practices" that will be supported. Please review the CETF Strategic Action Plan and become familiar with strategies and best practices.
