California State Association of Counties (CSAC) President and Riverside County Supervisor, Chuck Washington shares a message encouraging county leaders to close the Digital Divide in their communities by increasing awareness of and participation in the Affordable Connectivity Program.
CSAC represents all 58 California counties. This year, we identified statewide access to broadband as one of the top advocacy priorities. Despite significant progress is bridging the Digital Divide millions of households in California still lack access to the internet due to cost.
But there is a solution, the Affordable Connectivity Program also called (ACP) provides eligible low-income households with a $30 subsidy for their monthly Internet bill.
WE are working hard to increase the awareness and participation in the ACP Benefit, launching a reoccurring media campaign that includes TV, radio, billboards, direct mail, and digital advertising. CSAC has partnered with nonprofits and community organizations and is launching a call center to assist residents in enrollment. Together we can reduce the Digital Divide in communities.
