Luis was selected by the Y&H Soda Foundation to be the Chief Executive Officer in June 2020. Prior to becoming CEO, Luis served as Senior Program Officer at the Foundation responsible for grants to improve the economic security of low-income people through employment and job training, asset building, and community economic development. Luis has more than 25 years of leadership experience in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining the Y&H Soda Foundation, Luis’ philanthropic leadership includes senior roles at the Levi Strauss Foundation, California Emerging Technology Fund and a founding Board member of Youth Outside. Luis served as the Executive Director of Latino Issues Forum, a non-profit public policy and advocacy institute, directing groundbreaking policy initiatives at the local, regional and state level. He has a deep passion for our mission and grantees, and a commitment to advance equity and inclusion in the East Bay. Luis received a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and completed his undergraduate education at Princeton University. He lives in the East Bay with his wife and two children.
